The Three Mile island Accident happened in Pennsylvania on March 28 1979.

This was a human error that occurred that caused the accident. The meltdown in the TMI-2 reactor was the biggest meltdown in U.S history and in fact the only meltdown in U.S history. The meltdown didn’t cause any to have medical abnormalities,or effect the environment around the plant. This was the first time America had to deal with something like so the cleanup was long and expensive.

The power plant wasn’t shut down immediately however the TMI-2 reactor has since been removed from the island along with hazardous material. Sadly the power plant has shutdown this year due to lack of funding from Pennsylvania and recent failure in selling the island. Since the accident many things have changed like

  • Better plant designs
  • Enhancing Emergency preparedness
  • Expanding inspector programs

These are just the three basic things that they are doing to make sure nothing like this happens again.

The current condition of the island is fair by fair I mean nothing has happened. No environmental outbreaks or health abnormalities. Only thing that is happening on the island right now is auctions, and foreclosure. Other than that nothing has happen on the island.
